What rights and obligations are involved in permanent residency for foreigners?
Regulations on Examination and Approval of Permanent Residence of Foreigners in China stipulate that foreigners who receive permanent residency in China can live in the country permanently. They thus do not have to apply for a visa to enter or leave the territory. The rights they enjoy and obligations they have in China are determined by the country’s relevant laws, and under the laws and regulations, they have the rights as well as obligations that they should have.
Who is qualified?
According to Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Administration of the Entry and Exit of Foreigners, Rules Governing the Implementation of the Law of the PRC on the Entry and Exit of Foreigners, Regulations on Examination and Approval of Permanent Residence of Foreigners in China:
Eligibility: Applicants who have made an outstanding contribution of special importance to China
Documents required:
1. Valid passport or alternate approved travel document
2. Four 2-inch photos
3. Recommendations and relevant certificates issued by Chinese government organs
